CHA and Other Health Care Organizations Sue State Over Medi-Cal Cuts

In an effort to ensure that all Californians have continued access to vital health care services, a coalition that includes CHA filed a lawsuit May 5 against the state of California to prevent a planned 10 percent cut in Medi-Cal and Denti-Cal payments from taking effect on July 1. Hospital Reimbursement Seminar Begins June 3 in Northern California

CHA's annual Hospital Reimbursement seminar is scheduled for June 3 in Oakland, June 17 in Newport Beach and June 18 in Pasadena. This one-day program will help hospitals prepare to meet the changes and challenges in government reimbursement.

 

Consent Seminars Begun, Consent Manual Now Available

CHA's Consent Law seminar — offering an in-depth view of consent and related health care law — has begun. Remaining dates are May 20 in Pasadena and May 21 in Costa Mesa. Attendees will receive a free 2008 Consent Manual, which has been updated to reflect precedent-setting court cases, and 20 new state and federal laws that went into effect Jan. 1, 2008. 

 

CHA Calls for Reversal of Medi-Cal/Medicare Cuts

CHA has issued a hard-hitting "video" featuring CHA Vice President Anne McLeod outlining proposed Medi-Cal and Medicare budget cuts that threaten the financial stability of California's community hospitals.

 

Hospital Charity Care & Discount Policies Handbook Now Available

The charity care and discount payment law requires every general acute-care hospital, psychiatric acute-care hospital and specialty hospital to make the public aware of charity care, payment discounts and government-sponsored health coverage programs. CHA has developed an easy-to-use Charity Care & Discount Policies handbook to help frontline managers understand, implement and comply with the new law.

 

Reports Issued on Post-Hospital Transition of Homeless Patients

Passed in 2006, AB 2745 (Jones, D-Sacramento) required California’s three regional hospital associations to convene local meetings of key stakeholders, identify best practices and opportunities for improving the hospital discharge of homeless patients and develop a report of recommendations.
