The road to becoming a registered nurse in California can take several paths. These paths are frequently entwined, yet convoluted and difficult to navigate.

Students pursuing a nursing career in California will frequently encounter roadblocks and barriers to enrollment. In addition, as technology, genetics and bioscience expand, so do the expectations of the nursing profession.

In an effort to ensure a competent, well-educated nursing graduate, university and college faculty have undertaken a number of efforts to standardize and streamline nursing education in California. This section will focus on a number of these projects.
