Hospital Reimbursement

Every year there are shifts in reimbursement at the state and federal levels. Hospitals know this and plan accordingly. But this year is exceptional—sweeping changes are on the horizon that may impact the financial stability of our hospitals and the health care delivery system as a whole.

Knowing what to expect will help hospitals meet the challenges in government reimbursement. CHA’s expert faculty will analyze the state and federal proposals and explain how this will impact your operations. And, reimbursement trends will be reviewed to help hospitals proactively plan for the coming year.

Program highlights include:

  • Medi-Cal budget cuts, effective July 1—forecast of industry impact and reimbursement coping strategies

  • Roger’s Amendment update on new rate and reconciliation process

  • Proposed Medicare cuts in the President’s Budget—market basket freeze, cuts to “add ons” for DSH and medical education, elimination of crossover bad debt

  • Transitioning to cost-based DRGs—operational implications, calculating financial impact and preparation of new cost-based reports

  • Post-implementation view of Charity Care—tools to analyze, monitor and improve hospital performance

  • The Office of Inspector General’s enforcement priorities

  • Recovery audit contractors—a year in review, what lies ahead

  • CHA’s new DataSuite—using this powerful tool to analyze and plan
